Running Race Training Tips

Practice pacing. Personal bests, as well as world records, are usually achieved by running an even, consistent pace or by running the second half of a race slightly faster.  Practice this by doing some training runs on an out-and-back course.  Run a steady, comfortable pace for the first half and try to maintain it on the way back.  Or, practice negative splitting by running a bit faster in the second half.
